South Pacific Cruise: September 27-November 22.

Hello!! Welcome to my first foray into the world of blogging!

I’m looking forward to boarding the Holland America Lines’ Volendam in Vancouver, Canada on September 27 to begin a 58-day dream cruise to the South Pacific. The ship first heads south along the western coast of the US, calling on San Francisco and San Diego, then takes a hard turn starboard to Hawaii – 5 days to get there and 5 days touring. Then, we head south for 33 days of plying a vast expanse of the South Pacific Ocean in a counterclockwise direction and visiting 17 islands along the way. We wave goodbye to Nuka Hiva in French Polynesia on November 15 for a 6-day “full steam ahead” passage back to San Diego. The ship’s course is shown below.

I’ll be posting my blog here on WordPress. The blog will include a narrative log of the cruise, my thoughts and impressions along the way and select photos and videos. I hope to SCUBA dive on most of the islands, so with some luck, I’ll have some underwater shots to share as well. I won’t be posting every day, just on those days when I have onshore internet access. Remember: You will receive an email from me every time I post. But, you can adjust the frequency of how often you receive my emails on the WordPress site.
